Alabama BCIA Honors Award Winners222


The Alabama Beef Cattle Improvement Association (BCIA) recognized award winners during their Annual Meeting and Awards Program held in conjunction with the 69th Annual Alabama Cattlemen’s Association Convention in Huntsville on March 31.

The Alabama BCIA honored Regional Extension Agent Rickey Hudson with the 2011 Outstanding Extension Educator Award for his support and implementation of beef cattle performance programs in Southeast Alabama.



The new Spirit of BCIA Award was presented to honor Randy Moody (left) of New Market and Johnny Morrow of Tuscaloosa. The inaugural Spirit of BCIA Award is given in honorable memory of Jamie Cates of Columbiana, past BCIA Vice-President, and Jamey Clary of Akron, former Alabama Cooperative Extension Agent and BCIA member, and the spirit in which they both actively supported Alabama BCIA. 

 


The Alabama BCIA honored Alabama Cattlemen’s Association Lifetime Director and past ALFA Beef Commodity Chairman Bill Lipscomb of Prattville with the 2011 Alabama BCIA Richard Deese Award. The Richard Deese Award is the most prestigious honor bestowed each year by the Alabama BCIA to individuals who uphold the principles of performance testing and genetic improvement of beef cattle in Alabama.

     


The Alabama BCIA honored Williams Angus Farm of Newton as Alabama BCIA Purebred Producer of the Year and Jones Brothers Farm of Prattville as Alabama BCIA Commercial Producer of the Year.
