July 2006
4-H Extension Corner

There were 35 youth and 10 adult volunteers taught by Instructor Drew Cotton with the help of the 2006 Varsity Equestrian National Championship Team from Auburn University at the first 4-H Horse Judging Camp at Auburn University.
Happy Fourth of July! I hope all of you take the time to be with family and enjoy the freedoms of this Great Country.

We have started a new contest for 4-Hers this year that reflects the important truths of our Nation. I will later give you the winners of these contests and maybe give you a sample of the work that was done for this contest.

Remember that we each have a right and duty to support those that daily fight and give their most precious gift to us as they fight to keep us free. Below is a sample of what the contest is all about!
Present It With Power:
The 4-H PowerPoint Event For Junior 4-H

2005 – 2006 Theme: The Four Freedoms

More than sixty years ago, President Roosevelt spoke about The Four Freedoms. These are Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Worship, Freedom from Want, and Freedom from Fear.

If you like to PowerPoint, you will enjoy this project. Create a PowerPoint presentation on this topic. Give equal time to each Freedom.
Present It With Power!
Lets you:

• Talk about an important subject.

• Be a good citizen.

• Be creative.
What You Will Learn

Present It With Power! helps you build new skills.

Present It With Power! helps you learn about history and America.

Present It With Power! helps you learn to make choices.
The Rules

• Don’t give a speech with your presentation. Your PowerPoint is played before the judges and audience. It’s just like showing a video-tape.

• Junior presentations are 3-5 minutes.

• Put your presentation on a CD or diskette. Label it with your name. This will not be returned.

• Only use PowerPoint software.

• A slide should be included with your name.

We have just finished the first ever 4-H Horse Judging Camp. It was a great success and we would like to thank all of those that came to participate and be a part of this wonderful learning activity. The picture represents all those that were there.

Until next time, God bless.
